Mathias Dahlgren opens exclusive Seafood Gastro at Grand Hôtel
Mathias Dahlgren, the star chef behind acclaimed restaurants such as Matbaren and Rutabaga, is opening the doors on August 11 to a new dining concept – Seafood Gastro – at the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm. Offering a tasting menu that celebrates aquatic delicacies from within, around and atop the water, the restaurant is a journey of gastronomic discovery for guests as well as Mathias and his team.
“I call it ’seafood in a broader sense.’ We are not just offering the usual fish and shellfish, but also duck and other seabirds, seaweed, coastal greens, and uncommon fish and shellfish – if they taste good. My team and I see it as a new, exciting culinary adventure. Seafood Gastro will be the most exclusive restaurant I have ever created,” says Mathias Dahlgren.
Seafood Gastro’s fare will primarily consist of wild ingredients from Scandinavia. The tasting menu will also be enhanced with other top-quality marine produce not naturally found in our region – all carefully procured from select suppliers and drawn from open waters and sustainable farms alike.
The new restaurant will open in the former Rutabaga premises at Grand Hôtel on Blasieholmen quay.
“Our collaboration with Mathias Dahlgren and his team has been evolving for over fifteen years, ensuring that guests at the Grand Hôtel enjoy world class culinary experiences of the highest calibre. Opening the doors to Seafood Gastro marks a new milestone on the Nordic restaurant scene. As a gastronomic destination, the Grand Hôtel also gives guests access to one of northern Europe’s most extensive wine cellars and it is with pride that I would like to welcome both returning and new guests to experience the entirety of our offering and a fresh approach to seafood,” says Pia Djupmark, CEO, Grand Hôtel.
In addition to Seafood Gastro, the newly renovated premises will also be home to Private Dining by Mathias Dahlgren, featuring two chambres séparées available for exclusive bespoke meals, accommodating groups of up to 22 people.
Seafood Gastro will open on Friday, August 11.
